Ingredients for Cinnamon Roll Pancakes

Gather your ingredients and get ready to create a breakfast masterpiece. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Pancake Mix: The base for our fluffy pancakes; just add eggs, water, and milk per package instructions.
  • Brown Sugar: This brings that deep, caramel-like sweetness to our cinnamon filling; packed is better for that sticky goodness.
  • Butter: A must-have for richness! Use it in the batter and for melting with cinnamon and sugar.
  • Ground Cinnamon: The star of the show! This spice adds warmth and flavor reminiscent of fresh cinnamon rolls.
  • Powdered Sugar: Perfect for making that smooth, creamy glaze that you’ll drizzle over these beauties.
  • Cream Cheese: It gives the glaze a tangy richness that pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the pancakes.
  • Vanilla Extract: A splash of this adds a lovely aroma and flavor depth to your glaze.

For some fun variations, consider adding a sprinkle of nuts for a crunch or swapping out the cinnamon for nutmeg.

Don’t forget, exact quantities are at the bottom of the article for your convenience!

How to Make Cinnamon Roll Pancakes

Now, let’s dive into the heart of creating these mouthwatering Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. Each step is simple and straightforward, making it easy to whip these up even on the busiest mornings. Grab your apron, and let’s get started!

Prepare the Pancake Batter

Start by mixing your pancake batter according to the package instructions.

In a large bowl, combine the pancake mix with water, eggs, and milk.

I love to make a larger batch, so everyone gets seconds!

Once mixed, set the batter aside while we work on the cinnamon filling.

Remember, a little patience here pays off with fluffy pancakes!

Create the Cinnamon Filling

In a medium bowl, melt ⅓ cup of butter in the microwave.

Once melted, stir in the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.

This combination creates that irresistible filling we all love in cinnamon rolls.

Scoop this mixture into a piping bag, or if you don’t have one, a plastic sandwich bag works great too.

Just snip a small corner when you’re ready to swirl it into the pancakes!

Prepare the Cream Cheese Glaze

Next, let’s make the luscious cream cheese glaze.

In another medium bowl, heat 4 tablespoons of butter and 3 oz of cream cheese in the microwave.

Do this in 30-second intervals, stirring well each time until smooth.

Whisk in the powdered sugar and a splash of vanilla extract.

Make sure it’s creamy and dreamy because this glaze is the crown jewel that ties it all together!

Cook the Pancakes

Heat a pancake skillet over low heat.

If you’re working with a regular skillet, add a little butter so your pancakes don’t stick.

Pour ½ cup of pancake batter into the skillet, then carefully pipe your cinnamon filling into the center.

Be cautious not to touch the edges!

When the batter begins to bubble, it’s time to flip. Cook until golden brown.

Trust me, that golden hue means your pancakes are delightful!

Serve with Glaze

Place your beautifully cooked Cinnamon Roll Pancakes on a plate, stacking them high for maximum impact.

Drizzle the warm cream cheese glaze generously over the top.

For a fun presentation, garnish with a sprinkle of extra cinnamon or even some chopped nuts!

Now, don’t just keep this deliciousness to yourself—your family is going to want a taste, and you’ll be the star of breakfast.

Tips for Success

  • Keep the heat low to prevent burning your pancakes; low and slow is the way to go!
  • Don’t overfill your piping bag; a little goes a long way in creating those cinnamon swirls.
  • Use a non-stick skillet for easier flipping and fewer messes.
  • Let your pancakes rest for a minute after cooking; this helps them firm up.
  • Experiment with glaze thickness by adjusting the cream cheese and powdered sugar ratio.

Equipment Needed

  • Pancake Skillet: A non-stick skillet is ideal, but any large skillet will work.
  • Piping Bag: Use a piping bag or simply a plastic sandwich bag with a snipped corner.
  • Mixing Bowls: Keep a few medium bowls on hand for mixing ingredients.
  • Whisk: Perfect for creating a smooth glaze; a fork works too!
  • Spoon or Spatula: For flipping those pancakes with flair!

Variations of Cinnamon Roll Pancakes

  • Chocolate Chip Delight: Add a handful of chocolate chips to your pancake batter for a sweet twist.
  • Apple Cinnamon: Mix in some finely chopped apples for a fruity flavor that pairs beautifully with cinnamon.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Substitute with gluten-free pancake mix for a celiac-friendly treat.
  • Whole Wheat: Use whole wheat pancake mix for a healthier, fiber-packed version.
  • Nutty Crunch: Sprinkle chopped walnuts or pecans into your batter for extra texture and flavor.
  • Spiced Variation: Add a pinch of nutmeg or allspice for an extra depth of flavor in the cinnamon filling.

Serving Suggestions for Cinnamon Roll Pancakes

  • Fresh Fruit: Serve with a side of fresh berries or banana slices for a burst of color and flavor.
  • Coffee or Tea: Pair with a warm cup of coffee or tea to elevate your breakfast experience.
  • Extra Glaze: Offer additional cream cheese glaze on the side for those who love a little extra sweetness.
  • Whipped Cream: A dollop of whipped cream on top will bring a lovely lightness to each bite.
  • Cinnamon Dusting: For a delightful finish, sprinkle some extra cinnamon on top before serving!

  • Pancake Mix and ingredients to make pancakes (e.g., water, eggs, milk)
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 oz cream cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl mix, mix pancake batter according to directions on the package. For this recipe, I made the largest amount of pancakes listed on the package. Sit aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, heat 4 tablespoons butter and 3 oz of cream cheese together. Heat for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between each time. Whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Set aside.
  3. In another medium clean bowl, melt ⅓ cup butter in the microwave. Once the butter is melted, mix in brown sugar and cinnamon. Place cinnamon filling in a piping bag and sit aside.
  4. Heat a pancake skillet to low heat. Add a small amount of butter to the skillet if your skillet is not a nonstick. Once the pancake skillet is heated, add ½ cup of pancake batter to the skillet. Using your piping bag, make a cinnamon swirl in the middle of the pancake batter. Make sure not to get cinnamon filling to the edges of the pancakes.
  5. Once the pancake batter starts bubbling, carefully flip the pancake and cook until done.
  6. Right before you serve pancakes, drizzle warm cream cheese glaze over the top of pancakes.

Notes

  • Ensure to not overfill the piping bag to avoid spills.
