Description

A flavorful and fresh salad combining juicy steak, creamy mozzarella, and vibrant cherry tomatoes, enhanced with sautéed mushrooms.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls
  • 1 ½ to 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ⅓ cup fresh basil, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking mushrooms)
  • 3 hearts romaine lettuce, washed and chopped
  • 2 New York strip steaks (1216 ounces each)
  • Salt and black pepper, for seasoning steaks
  • Balsamic vinegar, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, gently mix the mozzarella pearls, cherry tomatoes, basil, garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Set aside at room temperature to allow the flavors to blend.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender. Season lightly with salt and pepper, then remove from heat.
  3. Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper. Grill or sear in a hot skillet until cooked to your preferred doneness. Let rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  4. Arrange the chopped romaine lettuce on a large platter or individual plates.
  5. Top the lettuce with sliced steak and sautéed mushrooms. Spoon the marinated mozzarella and tomato mixture evenly over the salad.
  6. Drizzle lightly with balsamic vinegar just before serving and enjoy immediately.
