Ingredients
Scale
For the Salmon and Shrimp:
- 2 salmon fillets (6 oz each, skin-on or off)
- ½ lb large shrimp (peeled & deveined)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
For the Creamy Garlic Sauce:
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup chicken broth (or seafood broth)
- 1 cup heavy cream (or half & half)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional, for depth)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or ½ teaspoon dried)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Season and Sear the Salmon
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel for a better sear.
- Season both sides with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down and sear for 4–5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3–4 minutes.
- Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Shrimp
- In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon olive oil if needed.
- Season the shrimp lightly with salt and black pepper.
- Cook for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the salmon.
Step 3: Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce
- Reduce heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the pan. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth to deglaze the pan, scraping up any browned bits.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan, Dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add the lemon juice and fresh thyme, stirring well.
Step 4: Combine Everything
- Return the salmon and shrimp to the pan, spooning the sauce over the top.
- Let it simmer for 2 more minutes to blend flavors.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Notes
- For extra richness, add a tablespoon of butter to the sauce before serving.
- Prefer a thicker sauce? Simmer a little longer or stir in a teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with water.
- Want a lighter version? Use half & half instead of heavy cream.
- Use fresh seafood when possible! It makes a huge difference in flavor.
