10 fresh jalapeno peppers

8 ounces of cream cheese, softened

1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

1 teaspoon of onion powder

20 slices of bacon

Optional: chopped chives or green onions for garnish


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat Your Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If you’re planning to grill the poppers, preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

 

Step 2: Prepare the Jalapenos

Start by washing the jalapenos thoroughly.

Slice each jalapeno in half lengthwise.

Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and membranes. Be sure to wear gloves or wash your hands thoroughly afterward to avoid any irritation from the spicy oils.

Step 3: Make the Cheese Filling

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined.

Step 4: Stuff the Jalapenos

Using a small spoon or a piping bag, fill each jalapeno half with the cheese mixture. Be generous with the filling, but ensure it doesn’t overflow.

Once all the jalapenos are filled, set them aside.

 

Step 5: Wrap with Bacon

Take a slice of bacon and wrap it around each stuffed jalapeno half, starting at one end and spiraling towards the other. Secure the bacon with toothpicks if necessary.

Repeat until all the jalapenos are wrapped in bacon.

Step 6: Bake or Grill

If baking, place the bacon-wrapped jalapenos on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the cheese is bubbly.

If grilling, place the poppers directly on the grill grates and cook for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

 

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

Once cooked, remove the poppers from the oven or grill and let them cool slightly before serving.

Garnish with chopped chives or green onions if desired.
