- 2 cups (370 g) long-grain white rice, uncooked
- 2 cans (10.5 oz each) French onion soup
- 2 cans (10.5 oz each) beef consommé
- ½ cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, sliced into pats
- Chopped chives, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat the Oven
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2️⃣ Brown the Beef
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbled.
- Drain any excess fat.
3️⃣ Assemble the Casserole
- In a 9×13-inch casserole dish, combine the uncooked rice, browned beef, French onion soup, and beef consommé.
- Stir well to mix everything together.
4️⃣ Top with Butter
- Arrange the butter pats evenly over the casserole.
5️⃣ Bake
- Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour, until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
6️⃣ Garnish & Serve
- Remove from the oven, stir gently, and sprinkle with chopped chives if desired. Serve hot!
Notes
- For extra flavor, add garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, or a sprinkle of shredded cheese before serving.
- Rice not cooked all the way? Cover and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes with a splash of broth.
- Want a crispy top? Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes of baking.
