Ingredients
-
4 medium apples (washed and thoroughly dried)
-
2 cups granulated sugar
-
1 cup water
-
¼ cup light corn syrup
-
Food coloring (choose your favorite colors!)
-
1 bag of cotton candy (variety of colors)
-
Lollipop sticks or wooden skewers
Instructions
-
Insert lollipop sticks or skewers into the tops of each apple. Set aside.
-
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Stir until sugar dissolves.
-
Once dissolved, stop stirring and let the mixture boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
-
Remove from heat and quickly stir in food coloring.
-
Working fast, dip each apple into the candy coating, turning to coat completely. Let excess drip off, then place on a parchment-lined tray to set.
-
Once cool and hardened, top with tufts of colorful cotton candy right before serving.
-
Serve immediately for best texture, and enjoy the carnival magic!
Notes
-
Make sure apples are bone dry—any moisture can prevent the candy from sticking.
-
Add flavor extracts (like cinnamon or cherry) for a fun twist.
-
Apply cotton candy just before serving to keep it fluffy and fresh.
-
Handle hot sugar with care it’s extremely hot and sticky!
