Description

Deliciously spiced donuts infused with the flavors of apple cider and caramel, perfect for fall.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon divided
  • 1 tablespoon apple pie spice divided
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups fresh apple cider
  • 1 jar (12-ounce) caramel sauce good-quality
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter melted
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1.5 teaspoons apple pie spice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two donut pans.
  2. In a saucepan, combine apple cider, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of apple pie spice, then simmer until reduced.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, remaining cinnamon, and apple pie spice.
  4. In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla until combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mix gently, and stir in cooled cider.
  6. Transfer batter to piping bag and fill donut cavities 3/4 full.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and let cool.
  8. Inject donuts with caramel sauce using a piping bag.
  9. Dunk donuts in melted butter and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
