- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1.5 teaspoons baking soda

- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon divided
- 1 tablespoon apple pie spice divided
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1.5 cups whole milk
- 2 large eggs at room temperature
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 6 cups fresh apple cider
- 1 jar (12-ounce) caramel sauce good-quality
- 2 sticks unsalted butter melted
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1.5 teaspoons apple pie spice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two donut pans.
- In a saucepan, combine apple cider, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of apple pie spice, then simmer until reduced.
- In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, remaining cinnamon, and apple pie spice.
- In another bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mix gently, and stir in cooled cider.
- Transfer batter to piping bag and fill donut cavities 3/4 full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and let cool.
- Inject donuts with caramel sauce using a piping bag.
- Dunk donuts in melted butter and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to ensure light and fluffy donuts.
- Check donuts at 12 minutes to prevent overbaking.
- Use good-quality caramel sauce for best flavor.
