Description
Delicious Apple Pie Biscuit Sandwiches filled with warm apple filling and topped with a sweet glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- FOR THE APPLE FILLING:
- 2 cups apples (peeled and diced, preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- FOR THE BISCUITS:
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuits
- FOR THE GLAZE:
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- MAKE THE APPLE FILLING: Place a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Once melted, add the diced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir everything together so the apples are evenly coated. Cook for about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples soften and release their juices. The mixture should start looking syrupy. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water, then pour it into the skillet. Stir continuously for 1–2 minutes until the filling thickens and becomes glossy. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- BAKE THE BISCUITS: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the biscuits on a lined baking sheet, leaving a bit of space between each one. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until they turn lightly golden on top. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
- ASSEMBLE THE SANDWICHES: Slice each biscuit in half horizontally using a knife. Spoon a generous amount of the warm apple filling onto the bottom half of each biscuit. Place the top half of the biscuit over the filling and gently press down.
- MAKE THE GLAZE: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust consistency if needed.
- FINISH AND SERVE: Drizzle the glaze generously over each sandwich, letting it drip naturally down the sides. Serve warm for the best texture.
Notes
- Choose apples that are crisp and slightly tart for the best flavor.
- Feel free to adjust the sweetness of the filling to your liking.
- These sandwiches are best enjoyed fresh and warm.
