Description
A delicious and thick treat perfect for Valentine’s Day, loaded with M&Ms and chocolate chips.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature or softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups Valentine M&Ms
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9×13 baking pan with parchment paper, if desired for easy removal, and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- Using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugars together until combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and continue beating until combined.
- Add the baking soda, salt, and flour to the wet mixture and mix slowly, then increase to medium speed until the dough comes together.
- Add in the chocolate chips and M&Ms, distributing throughout the dough.
- Scoop the dough into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Optionally, add extra M&Ms on top for color.
- Sprinkle the M&Ms evenly over the top, pressing them down slightly.
- Bake at 350° for 20-35 minutes, checking for doneness and a set top.
- Allow the bars to cool on a wire rack, then cut, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
- For gooey bars, bake for a shorter time, while for a more golden brown, aim for the longer baking time.
- Take care not to overbake, as the bars continue to cook after being removed from the oven.
- These bars are great served warm or at room temperature.
