Description

Stuffed Italian Bread Boat is a flavorful and hearty dinner option, featuring a delicious blend of sausage, ground beef, and pasta baked within a crusty Italian loaf.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sausage, ground
  • 1 loaf of Italian bread, 16 ounces
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 7 ounces of dry spaghetti
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 6 ounces of tomato paste
  • 16 ounces of tomato sauce
  • ⅔ cup of shredded Mozzarella (divided)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (split)
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • Garlic powder for sprinkling
  • Butter for brushing
  • 1 tablespoon of Italian herbs seasoning

Instructions

  1. Set the oven to 375°F to warm up.
  2. Cook the spaghetti in boiling water until it’s firm to the bite. Drain well, then leave aside.
  3. Brown the sausage and beef with the diced onion in a skillet. Drain the grease, return to heat, and add tomato paste, tomato sauce, minced garlic, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 5-8 minutes.
  4. Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce, then turn off the heat.
  5. Cut the bread loaf in half and scoop out the middle. Brush the inside with butter, sprinkle with garlic powder, and toast lightly in the oven.
  6. Stuff the hollowed bread with the meat and pasta mix. Sprinkle with part of the Parmesan and Mozzarella.
  7. Pop the bread in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese bubbles and is golden.
