Description
This St. Patrick’s Day Puppy Chow is a fun twist on the classic snack mix. It features Chex cereal coated in creamy white chocolate, peanut butter, and peppermint extract, then tossed in powdered sugar for that classic “muddy buddies” look. Green candies, sprinkles, and marshmallows make it extra festive and perfect for celebrating!
Ingredients
Base Puppy Chow
- 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
 - 1 cup white chocolate chips
 - 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional, for a minty twist)
 - 1 ½ cups powdered sugar

Festive Add-Ins
- 1 cup green M&Ms (or mint M&Ms for extra flavor!)
 - 1 cup Lucky Charms marshmallows (or mini marshmallows)
 - 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (for extra sweetness)
 - 1/2 cup pretzel pieces (optional, for a salty crunch)
 - Green sprinkles or edible glitter (for a fun touch!)

Instructions
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. (It usually takes about 1 to 1 ½ minutes total.)
Stir in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract (if using) for extra flavor.
Pour the Chex cereal into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the melted chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the cereal and gently toss to coat evenly.
Place the powdered sugar in a large zip-top bag. Add the coated cereal, seal the bag, and shake well until the cereal is fully covered.
Transfer the coated cereal to a large bowl and toss in the M&Ms, Lucky Charms marshmallows, extra white chocolate chips, pretzels, and sprinkles. Mix gently to combine.
Spread the puppy chow on a baking sheet to let it cool and set for about 15 minutes. Then, transfer it to a serving bowl and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra mint flavor, use mint M&Ms and increase the peppermint extract slightly.
 - Want it less sweet? Reduce the powdered sugar to 1 cup.
 - Make it nut-free: Substitute sunflower butter or cookie butter for the peanut butter.
 - Need a bigger batch? This recipe doubles easily for parties!
