Description
A delicious and spicy burger featuring ground beef patties topped with jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and a chipotle mayo for an extra kick.
Ingredients
Scale
- 680 g ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp butter
- 4 slices pepper jack cheese
- 1 cup arugula or shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, sliced
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp adobo sauce (from chipotle peppers in adobo)
- 1 chipotle pepper, finely minced
- 1 tsp lime juice
- Pinch of salt
- 4 brioche or sesame burger buns, toasted
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, adobo sauce, chipotle pepper, lime juice, and salt. Mix well and refrigerate until use.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add sliced jalapeños and sauté for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened. Remove from heat.
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and form into patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side or until desired doneness. In the last minute, top each patty with pepper jack cheese and cover to melt.
- Spread butter on buns and toast in a pan or on the grill until golden brown.
- Spread chipotle mayo on both bun halves. Layer bottom bun with arugula, tomato, and burger patty. Top with sautéed jalapeños, red onion slices, and the top bun. Serve hot.
Notes
- Adjust the number of jalapeños based on your heat preference.
- For a milder version, omit the chipotle pepper from the mayo.
- This burger pairs well with a side of sweet potato fries.
