Ingredients

  • Roast Beef: 6 ounces, thinly sliced (deli or homemade)
  • Crusty Bread or Rolls: 2 (ciabatta, sourdough, or baguette), lightly toasted
  • Swiss, Provolone, or Cheddar Cheese: 2 slices
  • Arugula or Baby Spinach: 1/2 cup
  • Tomato: 1, sliced
  • Red Onion: A few thin rings
  • Salt and Black Pepper: To taste
  • Prepared Horseradish: 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Make Horseradish Cream: Mix horseradish with sour cream, mayo, or yogurt until smooth. Adjust to taste.
  2. Toast Bread: Lightly toast the bread or rolls for structure and flavor.
  3. Build Sandwich: Spread horseradish sauce on both halves of the bread. Layer with half the roast beef, a slice of cheese, greens, tomato, and onion. Add the remaining beef and cheese.
  4. Melt Cheese (Optional): Place the open-faced sandwich under a broiler for 1–2 minutes to melt cheese, then close the sandwich.
  5. Serve: Slice in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of horseradish according to your spice preference.
  • For a heartier sandwich, add more roast beef or cheese.
