Description

These Puff Pastry Twists with Zaatar are a quick and delightful snack or appetizer, featuring a flaky pastry seasoned with aromatic zaatar and optional parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons zaatar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Brush the olive oil over the puff pastry sheet evenly.
  4. Sprinkle the zaatar and grated parmesan (if using) evenly over the pastry.
  5. Cut the pastry into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  6. Twist each strip several times and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush the twisted pastry with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve!

Notes

  • For a spicier version, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the zaatar.
  • These twists can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • Feel free to experiment with different toppings, like sesame seeds.
