Description

A delicious burger featuring savory pepperoni and melted provolone cheese on a toasted brioche bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slices of deli-style pepperoni
  • 1 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 ½ pounds of 80/20 ground chuck
  • A pinch of salt, garlic powder, and pepper for seasoning
  • ½ cup of mayonnaise
  • Brioche buns (1 pack or 8 pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic paste
  • A can of pre-made pizza sauce
  • 12 slices of provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Shape the burger patties and pop them in the fridge for about 35 to 40 minutes.
  2. Stir the garlic paste into the mayo. Keep it on the side for later.
  3. Dice the red onions and green peppers. In a hot cast iron skillet, toss veggies with butter and a bit of salt. Keep stirring for around 8-10 minutes until soft, then set aside.
  4. Generously sprinkle your patties with pepper, garlic powder, and salt. Grill over direct heat, letting them cook for about 6 minutes per side.
  5. In a heated cast iron skillet, quickly warm the deli pepperoni slices, cooking each side for roughly 1 to 1.5 minutes.
  6. After the first side of patties is done, flip them and keep grilling for 2 more minutes. Layer with pizza sauce, provolone cheese, and the cooked pepperoni slices. Close the lid and let it cook another 4 minutes, then remove and place them on a cooling rack.
  7. Lightly toast the buns. Spread garlic mayo on each side. Add the grilled patties, then top with sautéed onions and peppers. Put the tops on and dig in.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding your favorite seasonings to the burger patties.
  • Adjust the cooking time based on desired doneness.
  • Feel free to substitute other cheeses if provolone is not available.
