Description

A fun and boozy take on breakfast, Pancake Shots combine whiskey, butterscotch schnapps, orange juice, and maple-glazed bacon to deliver the nostalgic flavors of a pancake breakfast in a party-ready form. Perfect for brunch gatherings or as a unique cocktail treat, these shots are quick to make and endlessly customizable for all tastes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 strips thinly sliced bacon, halved
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 4 oz. chilled whiskey
  • 2 oz. chilled butterscotch schnapps
  • 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

Instructions

  • Prepare the Maple-Glazed Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy, turning halfway through (about 7 minutes). Brush each strip generously with maple syrup and cook for an additional 30 seconds until the syrup thickens and glazes the bacon. Transfer to a plate to cool.
  • Assemble the Shots: Fill four shot glasses with 1 oz. whiskey each, then top each with 0.5 oz. butterscotch schnapps. In another four shot glasses, pour freshly squeezed orange juice.
  • Garnish and Serve: Garnish each orange juice shot with a strip of maple-glazed bacon. To enjoy, take a whiskey-and-schnapps shot, chase it with orange juice, and finish with a bite of bacon.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian-friendly option, substitute bacon with maple-glazed candied nuts or vegan bacon strips.
  • Substitute whiskey with rum or a non-alcoholic alternative for a mocktail version.
  • Freshly squeezed orange juice is recommended for the best flavor, but store-bought works in a pinch.
  • Leftover bacon can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
