Description

A delightful and easy-to-make chocolate roll filled with creamy Oreo filling and decorated with white chocolate and whole Oreo cookies.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 120 ml vegetable oil
  • 240 ml water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • 60 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 60 g powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 60 g crushed Oreo cookies (approximately 68 cookies)
  • 60 g white chocolate, melted
  • 46 whole Oreo cookies, for decoration
  • Extra crushed Oreo cookies, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C. Line a 25 x 38 cm jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  2. Combine chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, water, and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Mix until batter is smooth and homogenous.
  3. Pour batter evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the surface. Bake for 12–15 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the centre emerges clean.
  4. While baking, dust a clean kitchen towel evenly with powdered sugar.
  5. Immediately invert the hot cake onto the sugared towel. Gently remove parchment paper. While warm, roll cake into the towel from the short edge and allow to cool entirely.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract gradually, mixing until light and creamy. Fold in crushed Oreo cookies evenly.
  7. Carefully unroll the cooled cake. Spread Oreo cream filling evenly over the surface. Gently re-roll, maintaining a tight structure. Wrap roll in cling film and chill in the refrigerator for at least 60 minutes.
  8. Unwrap and place the roll on a serving platter. Drizzle with melted white chocolate, top with whole Oreo cookies, and sprinkle with additional crushed Oreos for garnish.
  9. Slice into uniform portions using a sharp knife and serve promptly for optimal texture.

Notes

  • Make sure the cake cools completely before adding the filling to prevent it from melting.
  • For best results, use a clean kitchen towel to roll the cake to avoid sticking.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance and kept in the refrigerator.
