Description

Mini Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts are a delightful treat combining the flavors of apple fritters with the fun shape of waffle donuts, perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon oil
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded apples
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 34 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • Cinnamon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron to the appropriate temperature setting.
  2. Stir together the dry ingredients including flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cornstarch. Whisk in the egg, milk, and oil until combined. Gently mix in the shredded apples.
  3. Spray the waffle iron with nonstick spray. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls onto the waffle iron. Cook for 3-5 minutes, depending on your waffle iron’s setting. Remove and place on a wire rack to cool.
  4. Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Dip each waffle donut into the prepared glaze, ensuring even coverage. Flip and allow excess glaze to drip off. Optionally, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and allow to set.

Notes

  • Ensure that the waffle iron is properly heated for even cooking.
  • Adjust the cooking time based on your waffle iron’s features for best results.
  • The glaze can be made thicker or thinner by adjusting the amount of milk used.
