Description
Million Dollar Chicken Casserole is a creamy and flavorful dish that combines cooked chicken with a rich blend of cheeses, topped with crispy Ritz crackers and a golden finish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups (about 280 g) cooked chicken, diced or shredded
- 225 g cream cheese, softened
- 240 g cottage cheese
- 240 g sour cream
- 240 g mayonnaise
- 1 can (298 g) cream of chicken soup
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 100 g grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup (80 g) crushed Ritz crackers
- 225 g unsalted butter, melted
- 120 g shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175°C and allow it to fully reach temperature before baking.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, and cream of chicken soup. Blend thoroughly until smooth and uniform.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the base. Adjust seasonings to taste and mix to incorporate evenly.
- Fold in diced or shredded cooked chicken, gently ensuring all pieces are evenly coated with the creamy mixture.
- Lightly grease a 33 x 23 cm baking dish. Evenly spread the chicken mixture in the dish for uniform baking.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the entire surface of the chicken mixture to form a flavor-rich base for the topping.
- In a separate bowl, mix crushed Ritz crackers with melted unsalted butter until all crumbs are evenly coated.
- Distribute the buttered cracker mixture evenly over the casserole, ensuring full coverage for consistent texture.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese, spreading it evenly to promote a melty, golden finish.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes. This helps the casserole set for cleaner slices.
- Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired, then serve warm.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easier mixing.
- You can substitute other types of cheese if preferred.
- This casserole can be prepared in advance and baked when ready to serve.
