Description

As a busy mom, I know how challenging it can be to whip up a meal that’s both quick and delicious. That’s why I’m excited to share my recipe for Mediterranean Chicken Gyros with Creamy Feta Tzatziki! This dish is not only a feast for the taste buds but also a fantastic way to bring the family together. Imagine tender, marinated chicken wrapped in warm pita, drizzled with a creamy, tangy tzatziki sauce. It’s perfect for those hectic weeknights or when you want to impress your loved ones with minimal effort!

Ingredients

  • Chicken Breast: 500 grams (about 1 lb), boneless and skinless.
  • Olive Oil: 3 tablespoons.
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced.
  • Dried Oregano: 2 teaspoons.
  • Salt and Pepper: to taste.
  • Pita Bread: 4 pieces.
  • Cucumber: 1 medium, grated.
  • Greek Yogurt: 1 cup.
  • Feta Cheese: 100 grams (about 3.5 oz), crumbled.
  • Lemon Juice: 2 tablespoons.

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by combining olive oil, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add chicken breasts and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the creamy feta tzatziki by grating cucumber, salting it, and letting it sit for 10 minutes. Squeeze out excess moisture, then mix with Greek yogurt, crumbled feta, lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate.
  3. Cook the marinated chicken on a preheated grill for 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked (75°C or 165°F). Let it rest before slicing.
  4. Warm the pita bread on the grill for about 1 minute on each side.
  5. Assemble the gyros by placing sliced chicken in the center of the warm pita, adding fresh toppings, and drizzling with tzatziki.
  6. Wrap the pita around the filling and serve immediately with extra tzatziki on the side.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, let the chicken marinate longer if possible.
  • Feel free to add your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, or onions.
  • Store any leftover tzatziki in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
