Description

Imagine biting into a melty, cheesy sandwich that combines two of your favorite comfort foods: chicken parmesan and grilled cheese. That’s exactly what the Lazy Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese offers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough or your preferred type)
  • 1 cup cooked chicken (shredded or sliced)
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese (or 1 cup shredded mozzarella)
  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Butter the Bread: Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese over the buttered side and press gently so it adheres.
  2. Heat the Pan: Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  3. Layer the Filling: Place one slice of bread (buttered side down) in the skillet. Add a slice of mozzarella cheese, a layer of shredded chicken, a spoonful of marinara sauce, and another slice of mozzarella cheese.
  4. Top with Bread: Place a second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing up.
  5. Toast and Flip: Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwich and toast the other side for another 3-4 minutes. Reduce heat if the bread browns too quickly.
  6. Melt the Cheese: Press gently with a spatula to ensure the cheese melts evenly and binds the sandwich.
  7. Cut and Serve: Remove from the skillet and let the sandwich cool slightly. Slice in half and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add some fresh basil or spinach to the filling.
  • Serve with a side of additional marinara sauce for dipping.
  • This recipe can be customized with different types of cheese.
