Description
Delicious and tender pork chops coated in a savory apple butter glaze that offers a sweet and tangy flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless pork chops, ¾ to 1 inch thick
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium tart apple, sliced
- ½ cup apple butter or homemade applesauce
- 2 tablespoons whole grain mustard (Dijon as substitute)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
Instructions
- Generously season boneless pork chops with salt and black pepper.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil if using. Sear pork chops for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until browned and internal temperature reaches 145°F. Transfer to a plate and tent with foil to rest.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Add sliced onions and apples to the skillet and sauté for 5 to 7 minutes until onions are translucent and apples soften.
- Stir in apple butter and whole grain mustard along with a small splash of water. Mix well to combine.
- Return pork chops to the skillet, coat with glaze, and cook for an additional 5 minutes until sauce thickens. Adjust sauce consistency by simmering longer on low heat if necessary.
Notes
- Ensure pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F for food safety.
- For a more intense flavor, let the glaze simmer for longer.
- Experiment with different types of apples for varied sweetness.
