Description

A spicy and delicious twist on a classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring roasted jalapeños and a creamy cheese filling, perfect for comfort food lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 medium jalapeños, stems removed, sliced in half, and seeded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 garlic clove, grated or finely minced
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ cup mild cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • ½ cup Monterey Jack cheese, freshly shredded
  • 68 strips bacon, cooked until crispy
  • 4 slices bread (sourdough or thick white bread)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F. Slice jalapeños in half lengthwise, remove stems and seeds, then brush with olive oil and air fry for 8-12 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, grated garlic, black pepper, and onion powder. Mix until smooth.
  3. Chop cooled roasted jalapeños and fold into the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Prepare for assembly by organizing ingredients: jalapeño cream cheese, shredded cheeses, bacon, butter, and bread.
  5. Butter one side of a slice of bread, spread half of the cream cheese mixture on the unbuttered side, layer with bacon and cheeses, then top with another buttered slice of bread.
  6. Repeat the process for a second sandwich.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium heat, place one sandwich butter-side down and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  8. Remove sandwiches, let them rest, then cut diagonally and serve hot with ranch dressing if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier option, leave some seeds in the jalapeños.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • You can use different types of cheese based on preference.
