Description

A delicious Honey Garlic Pork Tenderloin recipe that is perfect for an irresistible dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pork tenderloins (about 1 pound each), trimmed of silver skin
  • ½ cup honey, preferably a mild-flavored honey like clover or wildflower
  • ¼ cup soy sauce, low sodium
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, freshly grated
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more, to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 23 green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Honey Garlic Marinade: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth. Add the cornstarch slurry to the honey garlic mixture and whisk well to combine.
  2. Marinate the Pork Tenderloin: Pat the pork tenderloins dry with paper towels. Place the pork tenderloins in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the honey garlic marinade over the pork, making sure to coat it evenly. Seal and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight. For the best flavor, marinate for at least 2 hours. Turn the pork occasionally to ensure even marinating.
  3. Cook the Pork Tenderloin: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Heat a large oven-safe skillet (cast iron is ideal) over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of oil (vegetable or canola oil works well). Once the oil is hot, carefully place the pork tenderloins in the skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side, until nicely browned.
  4. Bake in the Oven: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) for medium. Use a meat thermometer to ensure accuracy.
  5. Rest the Pork: Remove the skillet from the oven and transfer the pork tenderloins to a cutting board. Tent them loosely with foil and let them rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
  6. Make the Honey Garlic Glaze: Pour the remaining marinade from the bag or dish into the same skillet you used to sear the pork. Bring the marinade to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until it has thickened slightly and become a glaze. Be careful not to burn it! Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
  7. Slice and Serve: Using a sharp knife, slice the pork tenderloins against the grain into ½-inch thick slices. Arrange the sliced pork on a serving platter. Drizzle the honey garlic glaze over the sliced pork. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds (if using). Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the pork tenderloin overnight.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes for desired spiciness.
