Description
Delicious homemade cherry puff turnovers filled with sweet cherry pie filling and topped with a creamy glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup cherry pie filling, fresh or canned
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon whole milk
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Set oven to 200°C and allow it to fully preheat.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out thawed puff pastry sheets to eliminate seams.
- Divide each pastry sheet into 4 equal squares. Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling into the center of each square.
- Fold each square diagonally to form a triangle and firmly press the edges together. Use a fork to crimp and seal edges securely.
- In a bowl, vigorously whisk egg with 1 tablespoon milk. Brush the mixture over the surface of each turnover.
- Arrange turnovers on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While baking, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 2 to 3 tablespoons milk in a bowl until smooth. Adjust milk for desired consistency.
- Once turnovers are baked and slightly cooled, drizzle glaze evenly over the top before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before rolling.
- For a richer glaze, add more powdered sugar.
- These can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
