Description
A decadent puff pastry topped with fresh figs and creamy goat cheese, drizzled with honey and seasoned with thyme and black pepper.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package frozen puff pastry sheets (thawed as directed)
- 6–8 fresh figs, washed and sliced into thin rounds
- 4 oz goat cheese, crumbled
- 2 tablespoons honey, for drizzling
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the puff pastry: Thaw the frozen puff pastry sheets overnight in the refrigerator or for about 30 minutes at room temperature until pliable but still cold.
- Slice figs and prepare cheese: Wash and pat dry your fresh figs, then slice them into thin rounds. Crumble the goat cheese so it can be sprinkled smoothly over the surface later.
- Assemble the pastry: Roll out the puff pastry slightly on a floured surface, then place it on a lined baking sheet. Arrange fig slices evenly, followed by crumbled goat cheese.
- Add seasoning and glaze: Lightly drizzle honey over the figs and cheese. Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves and black pepper for seasoning. Brush the edges and surface with egg wash.
- Bake to perfection: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and puffed, and the cheese is slightly browned.
- Cool and serve: Allow the pastry to cool briefly on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of balsamic reduction on top before serving.
- This dish is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven for optimal texture.
