Description

A decadent puff pastry topped with fresh figs and creamy goat cheese, drizzled with honey and seasoned with thyme and black pepper.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package frozen puff pastry sheets (thawed as directed)
  • 68 fresh figs, washed and sliced into thin rounds
  • 4 oz goat cheese, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons honey, for drizzling
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the puff pastry: Thaw the frozen puff pastry sheets overnight in the refrigerator or for about 30 minutes at room temperature until pliable but still cold.
  2. Slice figs and prepare cheese: Wash and pat dry your fresh figs, then slice them into thin rounds. Crumble the goat cheese so it can be sprinkled smoothly over the surface later.
  3. Assemble the pastry: Roll out the puff pastry slightly on a floured surface, then place it on a lined baking sheet. Arrange fig slices evenly, followed by crumbled goat cheese.
  4. Add seasoning and glaze: Lightly drizzle honey over the figs and cheese. Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves and black pepper for seasoning. Brush the edges and surface with egg wash.
  5. Bake to perfection: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and puffed, and the cheese is slightly browned.
  6. Cool and serve: Allow the pastry to cool briefly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of balsamic reduction on top before serving.
  • This dish is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven for optimal texture.
