Description
Enticing Cuban Sliders are a flavorful combination of marinated pork, savory seasonings, and tangy toppings, all served on soft slider buns.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 lbs boneless pork shoulder
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 bay leaves
- 12 slider buns (brioche or potato)
- 1 cup sliced pickles
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into chunks.
- In a skillet over medium heat with olive oil, sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until translucent (about 4–5 minutes).
- Season the pork with cumin, oregano, salt, pepper, and bay leaves. Marinate in the fridge for at least one hour or overnight for best flavor.
- Sear the marinated pork in the skillet until browned on all sides (approximately 3 minutes per side).
- Add enough chicken broth or water to cover the meat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover tightly, and braise for 4–5 hours until fork-tender.
- Shred the pork with two forks and pile high onto slider buns. Top with sliced pickles and a smear of mustard before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding some fresh herbs to the marinade.
- This recipe can be made a day in advance to enhance the flavors.
- Serve with extra pickles and mustard on the side for dipping.
