Description

A unique and delicious twist on classic grilled cheese using sweet glazed donuts and a savory bacon maple glaze.


Ingredients

  • 2 glazed yeast donuts, sliced in half horizontally
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked crispy
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  2. Make the glaze by whisking together maple syrup, cinnamon, and cayenne (if using) in a small bowl.
  3. Toast the donuts (cut side down) in the same skillet with butter until golden and slightly crisp, about 1 minute.
  4. Assemble the sandwich: flip donut halves cut side up. On bottom half, layer 2 slices of cheese and crumbled bacon.
  5. Drizzle the maple spice glaze evenly over the bacon and cheese.
  6. Cap with the top donut half, pressing gently to seal.
  7. Cook face down for another 1–2 minutes until cheese melts and donuts caramelize slightly.
  8. Serve hot, optionally topping with leftover glaze or extra crumbled bacon.
