Description

As a busy mom and an adventurous home cook, I’m always on the lookout for quick and satisfying snacks. That’s where my Crispy Parmesan Fried Tortellini comes into play! This delightful appetizer not only boasts an irresistible crunch but also brings the rich flavors of Italy right into your kitchen. Whether you need a party-ready dish or a fun family treat, these golden bites will impress both kids and adults. Plus, they’re ridiculously easy to make, making them a perfect solution for those chaotic weeknights when you want something special without the fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of refrigerated tortellini (about 9 oz)
  • 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Cook the tortellini according to package instructions, usually about 2-3 minutes, until they float to the surface. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  3. In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, place the flour.
  4. Dredge each tortellini first in the flour, then dip into the egg wash, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, fry the tortellini in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the tortellini from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with a pinch of salt and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  7. Serve immediately with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy texture.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese or breadcrumbs.
  • They can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for a few minutes before serving.
