Description

Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas are a delicious treat that combines the sweetness of ripe bananas with rich chocolate and optional toppings for added flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large ripe bananas
  • 200 g semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 4 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons crushed nuts (such as peanuts, almonds, or walnuts)
  • 1 tablespoon shredded coconut
  • 1 tablespoon sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the bananas and cut them into 1 cm thick rounds. Arrange the slices evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. If desired, top each banana slice with approximately ½ teaspoon of creamy peanut butter.
  4. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 30 minutes until the banana slices are firm.
  5. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl using 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler to melt.
  6. Remove banana slices from the freezer. Using a fork or toothpick, dip each slice into the melted chocolate to completely coat. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
  7. Return each chocolate-coated banana bite to the baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or sprinkles as desired, before chocolate sets.
  8. Freeze the banana bites for at least 1½ hours, or until completely firm.
  9. Serve banana bites straight from the freezer. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two weeks.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free option, use vegan chocolate chips.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings based on your preferences.
  • Make sure to work quickly when coating the bananas to prevent the chocolate from setting before adding toppings.
