Description

Chewy Spicy Red Hot Cookies are a flavor-packed dessert that offers a delightful twist with the inclusion of spicy red hot candies.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup red hot candies, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter with sugar for 2-3 minutes until fully combined.
  3. Add egg yolks and vanilla extract, and mix until fluffy.
  4. Add flour, baking powder, and kosher salt. Beat until a crumbly mixture forms, then continue until a cookie dough ball forms.
  5. Stir in the crushed red hot candies.
  6. Using a 2-tablespoon cookie scoop, drop cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Lightly press the tops of each cookie with a spatula to prevent doming and ensure even baking.
  8. Bake cookies for 13-15 minutes until edges are lightly browned.
  9. Remove from the oven and use the back of a spoon to push the melted red hot candies and mis-shaped cookies back into place while still warm.
  10. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a parchment paper-lined wire cooling rack to cool completely.

  • For a spicier kick, consider increasing the amount of crushed candies.
