Description

Cheesy Mashed Potato Balls in Air Fryer. These little bites of heaven are not just a treat for the taste buds; they also hold a special place in my heart. I remember the first time I made them. It was a chilly evening, and I had some leftover mashed potatoes from dinner. Instead of the usual reheating, I decided to get creative.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (chilled and firm)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • Cooking spray or a little olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mashed potatoes by ensuring they are chilled and firm.
  2. Mix the chilled mashed potatoes with the shredded cheese, grated Parmesan, beaten egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls about 1-2 inches in diameter.
  4. Coat each potato ball in breadcrumbs until fully covered.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and place the balls in a single layer in the basket.
  6. Air fry for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • Chill the mixture if it feels too soft before forming the balls.
  • Don’t skip the breadcrumbs for a crispy exterior.
  • Check for doneness as cooking times may vary by air fryer model.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces for added flavor.
