Description
Cheesy Mashed Potato Balls in Air Fryer. These little bites of heaven are not just a treat for the taste buds; they also hold a special place in my heart. I remember the first time I made them. It was a chilly evening, and I had some leftover mashed potatoes from dinner. Instead of the usual reheating, I decided to get creative.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (chilled and firm)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- Cooking spray or a little olive oil
Instructions
- Prepare the mashed potatoes by ensuring they are chilled and firm.
- Mix the chilled mashed potatoes with the shredded cheese, grated Parmesan, beaten egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
- Scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls about 1-2 inches in diameter.
- Coat each potato ball in breadcrumbs until fully covered.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and place the balls in a single layer in the basket.
- Air fry for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
- Chill the mixture if it feels too soft before forming the balls.
- Don’t skip the breadcrumbs for a crispy exterior.
- Check for doneness as cooking times may vary by air fryer model.
- Experiment with different dipping sauces for added flavor.
