Description

A delicious and hearty casserole combining the flavors of cheeseburgers and crispy french fries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g ground beef (80/20 fat ratio)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 300 g canned cheddar cheese soup
  • 300 g canned cream of mushroom soup
  • 600 g frozen shoestring french fries
  • 150 g sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 60 g mayonnaise
  • 20 g ketchup
  • 10 g yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pickle juice
  • 1 teaspoon dehydrated onions
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 200°C. Cook frozen shoestring fries according to package instructions until golden and crispy. Set aside.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add neutral oil, then ground beef and diced onion. Sauté and break meat apart until fully browned and onions are soft, about 6–8 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook briefly for 30–45 seconds until fragrant, avoiding browning.
  4. Add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to distribute seasonings evenly. Drain excess fat thoroughly.
  5. Add canned cheddar cheese soup and cream of mushroom soup to the meat mixture. Stir well until cohesive and creamy.
  6. Lightly grease a 28×18 cm baking dish with oil. Spread the creamy meat mixture evenly along the bottom.
  7. Arrange crispy cooked french fries over the meat base, then sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar evenly across the top.
  8. Preheat oven to 175°C. Bake for 10–15 minutes until cheese is fully melted and fries are just browned. Monitor closely to avoid burning the cheese or fries.
  9. While the casserole bakes, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, dehydrated onions, and a pinch of black pepper in a bowl. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  10. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes after baking. Drizzle prepared burger sauce over the hot surface just before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure to monitor the casserole closely while baking to prevent burning.
  • You can customize the burger sauce ingredients to your taste.
