Description

A delicious and comforting cheese bacon sandwich featuring gooey mozzarella and cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and sweet caramelized onions, all sandwiched between crispy sourdough bread.


Ingredients

  • ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced into half-moons
  • Salt and pepper to your liking
  • 2 slices of sourdough bread
  • 4 pieces of cooked bacon
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons softened butter (use it in steps)

Instructions

  1. Warm 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet on medium heat. Cook the onions with a little salt and pepper, stirring now and then, until they’re sweet and browned nicely. Take the finished onions out.
  2. Spread the cheeses onto each piece of bread. Pile the cooked bacon and caramelized onions between the bread slices, with the cheese on the inside. Close it up to make your sandwich.
  3. Take 1 tablespoon of butter and spread it onto the top side of the sandwich.
  4. Melt the last tablespoon of butter in the pan. Place the sandwich in and cook on low, pressing with a lid until both sides are crisp and golden.
  5. Slice the sandwich in two and pair it with something like tomato soup if you’d like.
