Description

A delicious blend of sweet and savory flavors featuring chicken wings glazed with a pineapple and brown sugar sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split at joints
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the chicken wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes, turning halfway through.
  3. While the wings are baking, combine pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove the wings from the oven and brush generously with the pineapple glaze. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, brushing with more glaze every 5 minutes.
  5. Once done, remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes for desired heat level.
  • For a more intense pineapple flavor, use fresh pineapple juice.
  • Wings can also be grilled instead of baked for a smoky flavor.
