Description

These classic Bisquick sausage balls are a perfect appetizer or breakfast dish! Simple, savory, and versatile, this recipe combines Bisquick, sausage, and cheese for a flavorful bite-sized snack. They’re easy to make ahead and freeze, and with a few tweaks, you can cater to any taste preference or dietary need.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 lb ground pork sausage (or spicy sausage)
  • 1 lb ground sage sausage (or any flavor)
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk (optional for moisture)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix together Bisquick, sausage, and cheese. Optionally, add milk if the mixture feels too dry.
  • Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked through.
  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces or sides.

Notes

  • You can freeze uncooked sausage balls and bake them directly from the freezer. Just add a few minutes to the bake time.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute with gluten-free Bisquick mix.
  • Don’t over-mix the dough to avoid making the balls tough.
