Description

A delicious and crispy baked chicken recipe drizzled with a spicy hot honey sauce, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs (approximately 1.5 pounds)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Fresh chopped parsley (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds or crushed peanuts (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Set oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. In one shallow dish, combine flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Beat eggs in a second shallow dish. Place panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
  3. Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, shake off excess, dip in beaten egg, then coat with panko breadcrumbs. Press gently to ensure crumb adhesion.
  4. Arrange breaded chicken on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray or drizzle with olive oil for even crisping. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and exterior is golden brown.
  5. Combine honey, hot sauce, butter, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring until butter is melted and sauce is smooth. Add apple cider vinegar or lemon juice for a tangy finish, if desired.
  6. Remove chicken from oven and immediately drizzle with hot honey sauce. For more intense flavor, toss pieces in the sauce to coat completely.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and sesame seeds or crushed peanuts. Serve hot with side dishes of choice.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, ensure the breadcrumbs are pressed firmly onto the chicken.
  • Feel free to adjust the level of heat by changing the amount of hot sauce and red pepper flakes.
  • Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
