Description
Delicious Apple Pie Donut Holes that combine the flavors of apple pie in a bite-sized treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 190 grams self-rising flour
- 180 millilitres cinnamon applesauce
- Canola oil or vegetable oil, for deep frying
- Cinnamon sugar, for rolling
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine self-rising flour and cinnamon applesauce until a thick, cohesive dough forms. Avoid overmixing to maintain light texture.
- Pour at least 5 centimetres of canola or vegetable oil into a deep skillet or heavy pot. Heat to 175°C, verifying temperature with a thermometer.
- Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, form 1-tablespoon portions of dough. Carefully drop into the hot oil in batches of 3 to 4.
- Fry each batch for 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning to ensure even golden brown colour and puffed appearance.
- Remove cooked donut holes with a slotted spoon and transfer to a plate lined with kitchen paper. Allow to cool briefly for 1 to 2 minutes.
- While still warm, roll each donut hole in cinnamon sugar until evenly coated.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature to avoid greasy donuts.
- You can adjust the amount of cinnamon sugar to taste.
