Description

Delicious Apple Pie Donut Holes that combine the flavors of apple pie in a bite-sized treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 190 grams self-rising flour
  • 180 millilitres cinnamon applesauce
  • Canola oil or vegetable oil, for deep frying
  • Cinnamon sugar, for rolling

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine self-rising flour and cinnamon applesauce until a thick, cohesive dough forms. Avoid overmixing to maintain light texture.
  2. Pour at least 5 centimetres of canola or vegetable oil into a deep skillet or heavy pot. Heat to 175°C, verifying temperature with a thermometer.
  3. Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, form 1-tablespoon portions of dough. Carefully drop into the hot oil in batches of 3 to 4.
  4. Fry each batch for 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning to ensure even golden brown colour and puffed appearance.
  5. Remove cooked donut holes with a slotted spoon and transfer to a plate lined with kitchen paper. Allow to cool briefly for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. While still warm, roll each donut hole in cinnamon sugar until evenly coated.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature to avoid greasy donuts.
  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon sugar to taste.
