Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- Pinch of salt
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into ½-inch pieces
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
Instructions
- Peel, core, and chop the apples into ½-inch pieces.
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped apples and cinnamon, stirring occasionally until apples start to soften, about 4 to 5 minutes. Avoid overcooking to prevent mushiness.
- Pour in whole milk, add rolled oats and a pinch of salt; stir to combine. Increase heat and bring to a gentle boil, watching carefully to prevent boiling over.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally until oats are tender and most liquid is absorbed, approximately 6 to 8 minutes.
- Stir in maple syrup and serve warm.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less maple syrup.
- For added texture, consider topping with nuts or seeds before serving.
- This recipe can easily be doubled or halved depending on your needs.
